..says victory act of God
Chief Femi Durodola, the Agoro of Okakaland, has congratulated Chief Mrs. Hannah Olawumi Ogunesan on her victory in the All Progressives Congress, APC, Oyo North Senatorial primaries, describing it as an act of God landmark achievement for women in Oyo State politics.
In a statement issued from Chief’s House in Okaka, Agoro said Ogunesan’s emergence as the APC flagbearer for the 2027 general elections marked a turning point for representation in Oyo North. He noted that her candidacy gives the district a credible chance to make history at the National Assembly.
Chief Durodola highlighted that; “Ogunesan’s record of public service set her apart. She served as the Head of Service in Oyo State and was the first female to occupy the position, breaking a long-standing barrier in the state’s civil service. Her stewardship in the civil service showed discipline, competence, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Oyo State.”
He further observed that with the victory, Ogunesan has also become the first female in Oyo State to secure the APC ticket for the Senate. He expressed confidence that if she wins in the general election, she would emerge as the first female senator to represent Oyo North, a milestone he said would inspire generations of young women across the district and beyond.
Praising her roots, Durodola acknowledged that; “Ogunesan hails from Sakiwest Local Government and remains grounded in her identity as a farmer. I commend her for combining public service with agriculture as it reflects a deep understanding of the people’s daily realities and the economic base of our district.”
The traditional chief lauded her personal qualities, noting her diligence, industry, benevolence, patriotism, charisma, and empathy for humanity. “These attributes have earned her the trust of party members and the respect of the wider public. They are the same qualities needed to represent Oyo North with distinction in Abuja,” he stated.
Chief Durodola then offered prayers for the politician’s success in the 2027 elections and urged party members and stakeholders in Oyo North to rally behind her candidacy. He said her victory would not only be a win for APC but for every voice seeking inclusive and purposeful leadership in the district.
