A video circulating on social media has sparked reactions after showing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu being escorted by a large convoy of over 100 vehicles during his visit to Bayelsa State on Friday, April 10, 2026.
In the footage, a long line of vehicles—including military trucks, police patrol units, and emergency response vehicles—was seen accompanying the President from the airport into the state capital, Yenagoa.
Tinubu was received on arrival by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, alongside Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and other top government officials.
During the visit, the President inaugurated several key infrastructure projects, including the 2.7-kilometre dualised New Yenagoa City Road linking the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas base at Obunagha to Onopa. He also commissioned the 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, which connects Yenagoa to coastal communities across the River Nun in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
In addition, Tinubu unveiled a 60-megawatt gas turbine plant at Elebele aimed at boosting electricity supply in Yenagoa and surrounding areas.
However, the size of the presidential convoy has drawn criticism online, with many Nigerians questioning the cost and necessity of such a large security presence amid ongoing economic challenges in the country.
Several social media users described the convoy as excessive, arguing that it reflects a disconnect between government officials and citizens facing hardship. Others, however, defended the move, citing security protocols and the need to adequately protect the President during official engagements.
