Oke-Ogun Chief, Durodola, Congratulates Florence Ajimobi on Ambassadorial Appointment

A prominent Oke-Ogun leader and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief Femi Durodola, has congratulated former First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, on her appointment as an ambassador designate to Austra by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Durodola, the Agoro of Okakaland and a lawyer, described the appointment as well-deserved, noting that Ajimobi’s years of public service, humanitarian efforts and commitment to women and youth empowerment had prepared her for the diplomatic role.

In a congratulatory message made available to journalists on Sunday, Durodola who served in Sen. Abiola Ajimobi’s government as a special assistant said the appointment was not only a recognition of Ajimobi’s contributions to national development but also a source of pride to Oyo State.

According to him, Mrs. Ajimobi had consistently demonstrated leadership and compassion through various initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and promoting social development.

“Mrs Florence Ajimobi has over the years shown remarkable dedication to humanitarian service, particularly in the areas of women and youth empowerment. Her appointment as an ambassador is well deserved,” Durodola said.

He noted further that during her tenure as the First Lady of Oyo State between 2011 and 2019, Ajimobi distinguished herself through programmes that positively impacted women, children and the less privileged.

“While serving as the First Lady of Oyo State, she initiated and supported several programmes that improved the lives of many women, children and vulnerable members of society. This appointment is therefore a recognition of her years of service,” he added.

Agoro further expressed confidence in Ajimobi’s ability to represent Nigeria effectively on the global stage.

“I have no doubt that she will bring her experience, integrity and dedication to bear in promoting Nigeria’s interests and strengthening diplomatic relations with other nations,” he said.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding Ajimobi worthy of the diplomatic responsibility, describing the decision as a recognition of competence and service.

“I must also commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for considering her for this important national assignment. It shows that dedication to service is always recognised,” Durodola stated.

The Oke-Ogun chief prayed for wisdom and strength for Ajimobi as she prepares to assume the diplomatic role.

“I congratulate her on this well-deserved appointment and pray that God grants her the wisdom, strength and success needed to excel in her new role while making Nigeria and Oyo State proud,” he said.

Ajimobi, the widow of former Oyo State Governor, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, was recently confirmed by the Senate as one of Nigeria’s non-career ambassadors.
