“I’m Fulfilling Destiny” — Hon Comforter Olajide Launches Empowerment, Commissions Community Projects in Ibadan North

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency I in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Olufunke Comforter Olajide, has said her legislative intervention projects and empowerment initiatives are driven by a personal destiny to bring development closer to her constituents.

Olajide, who also chairs the House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, stated this on Saturday while addressing journalists during her constituency empowerment programme and projects commissioning held at Mount Olivet Grammar School, Ashi-Bodija, Ibadan.

The event, organised as part of activities marking her birthday anniversary, witnessed the inauguration of several community-based projects and distribution of empowerment materials to beneficiaries across the constituency.

Among the projects commissioned were a newly constructed Amotekun Office at Ashi-Bodija, renovated Police Officers’ Wives Association shops at Yemetu destroyed by a recent fire incident, and newly drilled boreholes equipped with generators at Yemetu, Oje Market and Ashi-Bodija to provide alternative power supply.

The lawmaker also presented financial assistance to traders affected by the inferno, distributed food items and gas stoves to selected groups, and empowered over 200 trained youths and women with start-up grants, vocational kits and business tools.

Speaking during the programme, Olajide said her drive for service stems from a sense of purpose and commitment to grassroots development.

“I see myself fulfilling destiny by bringing development closer to my people in my own way,” she said.

She assured constituents of sustained delivery of democratic dividends, noting that more projects were underway.

“By the special grace of God, if given the opportunity to serve a second term, they should expect even greater impact. Even within the remaining period of this first term, there is still more to come,” she added.

The lawmaker attributed her passion for service to her faith and desire to create solutions within society.

“My motivation is rooted in Christ in me, the hope of glory. I have always seen myself as a solution to my world,” she said.

She further acknowledged drawing inspiration from Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, noting that her initiatives align with the administration’s grassroots-focused development agenda.

“As we follow in the footsteps of our Governor, we are reaching out to the needy and ensuring governance is felt at the grassroots,” she stated.

As part of her education support initiative, Olajide announced free JAMB and NECO registration forms for 20 outstanding students of Mount Olivet Grammar School.

Earlier, during the commissioning of projects at Yemetu and Oje Market, the Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Olufunke, commended the lawmaker for her community-driven interventions, describing them as practical dividends of democracy.

“These laudable projects reflect the requests of the people, and she has delivered on them. She is fulfilling the mandate of her constituents, and we are proud of her,” she said.

Also speaking, the Oyo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, urged beneficiaries to safeguard the projects provided for them.

“They should see them as their own projects and maintain them properly to ensure long-term use,” he advised.
