Gym Instructor Arrested for Allegedly Impregnating Two Married Women Enrolled for Training

A gym instructor in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, has been arrested by security operatives following allegations that he impregnated two married women enrolled in his fitness training programme.

The incident, which has generated widespread reactions on social media, was first shared on Instagram by user @aribrian001, alongside a video allegedly linked to the case.

According to information circulating online, the affected women reportedly joined the gym on the encouragement of their husbands, who wanted them to regain their body shape after childbirth. However, reports claim that during the course of their training sessions, the women allegedly became involved in an inappropriate relationship with the instructor, which later resulted in pregnancies.

Further reports indicated that the gym instructor has since been arrested and arraigned in court, with sources alleging that the husbands of the women involved are influential figures in the state.

The development comes barely days after a similar controversy in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, where a gym instructor was accused of impregnating four women, two of whom were reportedly married, reigniting public debate about boundaries, professionalism, and accountability within private fitness centres.

While sharing the video, the Instagram user cautioned men to be vigilant about activities within fitness spaces frequently visited by their spouses, a comment that further fuelled heated discussions online.

Social media reactions to the incident have been sharply divided, with some Nigerians questioning why the instructor was arrested, while others blamed the married women for alleged lack of restraint. Another group, however, raised concerns about power dynamics, professional ethics, and the responsibilities of instructors toward clients.
