President Bola Tinubu is currently holding separate meetings with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The two governors arrived at the State House independently on Thursday afternoon, with Governor Mutfwang arriving at about 3:00 p.m., while Governor Makinde followed around 3:30 p.m.

The meetings are coming amid ongoing political realignments and strategic consultations as political actors begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), remains one of the few opposition governors yet to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), despite a wave of defections that has weakened the opposition.
The Oyo State governor is widely believed to be nursing a presidential ambition and is reportedly positioning himself for the PDP’s 2027 presidential ticket.
Governor Mutfwang, on the other hand, recently defected from the PDP to the APC, joining a growing list of opposition figures who have crossed over to the ruling party.
Thursday’s engagement marked his first known meeting with President Tinubu since his official defection.
President Tinubu has, in recent months, held a series of meetings with governors across party lines, a move seen by political observers as part of broader consultations on governance and political stability.
