“I Wanted to Shower Her Like My Grandkids, But the DNA Results Are Clear” — Davido’s Dad Breaks Silence on Anu

Adedeji Adeleke, father of afrobeats superstar Davido, has described ongoing paternity claims as unnecessary, stating that DNA test results indicate 12-year-old Anuoluwapo (Anu) is not his son’s child.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Adeleke emphasized that while his son cannot take responsibility for a child that does not biologically belong to him, Anu deserves to know her father.

According to Adeleke, five separate DNA tests have been conducted to verify the paternity claim, all of which returned negative results. He also clarified that Davido has never denied being a father when the situation is confirmed.

Despite the test outcomes, Adeleke revealed that he has continued to support Anu. He said he regularly sends money for her school fees and upkeep, and that her aunt provides receipts and evidence of expenditures for the child. Adeleke explained that until last year, he personally settled her school fees while staying in touch with her aunt—without informing Davido.

“I did not discuss it with David or anybody,” he said.

The long-running dispute resurfaced in mid-January after Anu appealed on Instagram for a fresh DNA test, citing years of bullying, mockery, and mental distress at school over claims that Davido is her father.

Davido has consistently denied the paternity claim, insisting that five DNA tests at different hospitals were negative. A leaked chat allegedly involving Davido showed the singer threatening legal action if the matter was not dropped. He added that his father had insisted on the multiple tests to ensure transparency.

However, Anu’s mother, Ayotomide Labinjoh, disputes Davido’s account, claiming only one DNA test was conducted in 2014 and alleging that the results were compromised. She has called for a new independent DNA test, supervised by the U.S. Embassy or State Department, citing Davido’s U.S. citizenship and the need for impartiality.
