Nigerian billionaire and BUA Group Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles, pledging over ₦3 billion (USD $1.63 million) if they continue their winning streak at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.
The pledge comes on the heels of Nigeria’s 2–0 demolition of Algeria in the quarter-finals, a result sealed by brilliant second-half strikes from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams. The win propelled the Super Eagles into the semi-finals, where they are set to face tournament hosts Morocco. Fans have described the performance as a demonstration of skill, teamwork, and sheer determination, lifting the spirit of millions of Nigerians.

In a statement shared on social media, Rabiu hailed the team’s effort:
“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria! You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals.”
To spur the team on, Rabiu announced performance-based cash incentives:
USD $500,000 (≈ ₦920 million) if Nigeria wins the semi-final, plus USD $50,000 (≈ ₦92 million) for every goal scored in the match.
USD $1,000,000 (≈ ₦1.84 billion) if Nigeria lifts the AFCON trophy, with an additional USD $100,000 (≈ ₦184 million) for each goal scored in the final.
With these pledges, the Super Eagles stand to pocket well over ₦3 billion if they triumph in the final and score goals along the way, a major morale boost for the team and a clear show of private-sector backing for Nigerian football.
Rabiu concluded his message with patriotic encouragement:
“Wishing you continued success as you carry Nigeria forward. Keep making Nigeria proud. Proudly Nigerian.”
Football analysts and fans have lauded the billionaire’s gesture, describing it as timely motivation ahead of crucial matches. The Super Eagles now focus on the semi-final showdown, aiming to turn momentum into a historic AFCON triumph for Nigeria.
