US Rapper DDG Says Nigeria Is Safer Than America

American rapper and online streamer, Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., popularly known as DDG, has stated that Nigeria is not as dangerous as the United States, countering long-held negative perceptions about security in the country.

DDG made the remark during his visit to Lagos, in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday by CutnPaid, where he spoke about his personal experience since arriving in Nigeria.

According to the rapper, the level of violent crime in the United States, particularly gun-related and gang violence, makes it more dangerous than Nigeria.

“I think America is the most dangerous country there is, to be honest. I don’t think Nigeria is as dangerous as America — nowhere near,” DDG said.

Comparing crime patterns in both countries, he acknowledged that robbery occurs in Nigeria but stressed that incidents of fatal violence are more frequent in the United States.

“You get robbed out here for sure, but people aren’t getting shot like that — the way it happens in America,” he added.

The rapper also encouraged potential visitors not to be discouraged by stereotypes portraying Nigeria as unsafe.

“So if anybody is thinking about coming out here, just pull, bro,” he said.

DDG’s comments come months after he publicly expressed dissatisfaction with living in the United States. In an earlier post on his verified X account, the rapper suggested he was considering relocating abroad.

“America lowkey not it no more ngl… might have to move to London or Lagos,” he wrote at the time.
