Two Die as Anthony Joshua’s Vehicle Crashes into Truck in Ogun

World-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, was on Tuesday involved in a road accident in Makun, Ogun State, along the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred near Danco Filling Station when the Lexus Jeep conveying the former heavyweight champion, with registration number KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that are yet to be fully ascertained.

A source who participated in the rescue operation and spoke with PUNCH Online confirmed that Joshua sustained minor injuries in the crash. However, the accident reportedly claimed the lives of two persons, who died on the spot.

The source, identified as Adeniyi Orojo, said emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene to rescue victims and manage the situation, while the stationary truck involved in the collision was later identified as a major factor in the incident.

Following news of the crash, fans and supporters of the boxing star have taken to social media to express concern and offer prayers, as authorities continue investigations into the cause of the accident.

Efforts to obtain official comments from the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) were unsuccessful, as calls placed to the Commandant, Akinbiyi Babatunde, were not answered as of the time of filing this report.
