Confirming the development in a statement issued on Wednesday, the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, said Ungoggo died while on active duty at the Kano State House of Assembly.

“The late Hon. Ungoggo died while in active service at the Kano State House of Assembly. He is survived by his wife and children,” the statement read.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Jibril Falgore, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, condoling with the family of the deceased lawmaker, his constituents, and members of the Assembly. He described Ungoggo’s death as an irreplaceable loss to the legislature and the people of Kano State.

“Hon. Ungoggo’s death comes at a critical time when the people of Kano needed his experience and service the most,” the Speaker said.

Barely hours after Ungoggo’s passing, news also emerged of the death of Hon. Sarki Daneji, another member of the Assembly, further deepening the grief within the legislative arm.

Both lawmakers were serving their respective constituencies in the Kano State House of Assembly until their demise.

As of the time of filing this report, the Assembly leadership was yet to announce official funeral arrangements or issue a comprehensive statement on the deaths of the two lawmakers.
