LAUTECH Shuts Iseyin Campus After Hit-and-Run Driver Kills 200-Level Student

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has announced the immediate suspension of academic activities at its Iseyin campus following the tragic death of a 200-level student of the Department of Agricultural Economics, who was killed by a hit-and-run driver.

The decision was contained in a statement signed by the University Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka O. Balogun, on Friday, November 7, 2025. The management described the incident as heartbreaking and expressed deep condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

“The Management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, deeply regrets to announce the tragic passing of a 200-Level student of the Department of Agricultural Economics, who was fatally wounded by a hit-and-run driver in Iseyin,” the statement read.

The university noted that the development had cast a shadow over the LAUTECH community, prompting the decision to suspend academic activities at the Iseyin campus for two weeks. The break takes effect immediately, and all students of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources are expected to proceed on the break.

According to the Registrar, academic activities will resume on Monday, November 24, 2025, while officers on essential duties will be duly informed of their schedules.

“We urge all students to remain safe, support one another, and honour the memory of their departed colleague,” the statement added.
