Millions of Gmail users have been urged to take immediate security precautions after a major data breach exposed an estimated 183 million email addresses and passwords.

The breach, which reportedly occurred in April 2025, was recently flagged by the cybersecurity monitoring platform Have I Been Pwned, which tracks leaked personal data online. According to reports, the compromised information was aggregated from multiple sources across the internet and could give hackers access to users’ linked accounts and sensitive data.
Experts warn that anyone using Gmail should immediately change their password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect their accounts. Users are also advised to check if their email addresses have been affected by visiting Have I Been Pwned.

While Google has not yet issued an official statement on the breach, cybersecurity analysts say the leak underscores the growing threat of large-scale password dumps being shared on the dark web.
