15-Year-Old Agbo Adoga Becomes First Nigerian to Score Perfect 1600 on SAT

15-year-old Agbo Adoga, a student of Graceland International School, Port Harcourt, has become the first Nigerian to achieve a perfect SAT score of 1600.

The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a globally recognised standardised examination used for college admissions in the United States. Achieving a score of 1600—the highest possible mark—is an exceptionally rare accomplishment that places Agbo among the top-performing students in the world.

Agbo’s extraordinary performance has placed Nigeria on the global academic map, proving that African students can compete at the highest levels of intellectual excellence. However, what makes his story even more impressive is his already overflowing list of academic triumphs — 84 major awards and recognitions across national and international competitions in Mathematics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

He was the Overall Runner-Up at the 2025 Singapore Maths Global Finals, the World Champion in the International STEM Olympiad (Mathematics – Grade 11) held in Spain, and a Gold Medallist in the American Math Olympiad 2024. In 2023, he also emerged the Cowbellpedia Junior Category Champion, winning ₦5 million and an educational trip to South Africa.

Beyond Nigeria, Agbo has earned gold and silver medals in various international contests, including the International Youth Mathematics Challenge (IYMC) and multiple editions of the International STEM Olympiad across Europe and Asia. Within the country, he has dominated contests such as the Maths4Life National Tournament, Rotary Mathematics Competition, and the Nigerian Mathematics Olympiad, where he ranked first in several rounds.
