The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has passed a vote of confidence on the Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI), Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and student-centered administration.
The NANS President, Comrade Olusola Ladoja, announced this during a courtesy visit to the management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, alongside his national executives and over 200 students. He stated that Dr. Lasisi had earned the trust and confidence of Nigerian students through his consistent engagement and problem-solving approach.

According to Ladoja, NANS has long enjoyed a cordial relationship with Dr. Lasisi since his days as the Dean of Students’ Affairs, describing him as a leader who understands the needs and aspirations of students. He noted that the Acting Rector has been systematically addressing both inherited and emerging challenges in the institution, always prioritizing students’ welfare.

While commending the institution’s management and the Oyo State Government for their support to the Acting Rector, the NANS President urged students across Nigerian tertiary institutions to adopt the principles of consultation, consolidation, and communication in dealing with authorities. He emphasized that confrontation should be a last resort and used sparingly.
On the institution’s migration to a new student portal, Ladoja advised that the process should be handled meticulously in the best interest of students.
Supporting the position of NANS, the President of the Polytechnic Ibadan Students’ Union, Mr. Daniel Olamide Oladipupo, applauded Dr. Lasisi for restoring and ensuring regular electricity supply on campus. He also commended the decentralisation of result computation to academic departments, which, he said, has improved the timely mobilization of graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Responding on behalf of the Acting Rector, the Deputy Rector, Mrs. Olaide Salawu, appreciated NANS for acknowledging the ongoing positive transformations within the institution. She reiterated that the management remains committed to reforms that enhance student experience and institutional efficiency.
Mrs. Salawu noted that, as demonstrated during the last graduation ceremony, certificates of graduating students are now ready for collection on graduation day, a practice that has become a new tradition at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Speaking on the new digital portal, she explained that it was introduced in July with the approval of the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to improve administrative processes and better serve both students and the public.
