The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a final reopening of its student verification portal for the 2024/2025 academic session, allowing tertiary institutions that are yet to complete the verification of their students to do so.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said the portal would be accessible for 48 hours — from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14.

According to her, the short extension aims to ensure that all eligible students are properly captured and verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing loan application process.
“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” she cautioned, adding that failure to complete the verification within the stipulated timeframe would result in affected institutions being excluded from the current loan cycle.

Mrs. Oluwatuyi warned that such exclusion would deny students from defaulting institutions access to the loan facility, thereby affecting their ability to benefit from the scheme.
She further disclosed that, in the spirit of transparency and accountability, the list of defaulting institutions would be published after the exercise.

Reaffirming the Fund’s commitment to equity and inclusivity, Mrs. Oluwatuyi stated that NELFUND remains dedicated to ensuring fair access to higher education through a transparent and efficient loan management system.
