The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has postponed the resumption of academic activities for the 2025/2026 session, earlier scheduled for Monday, October 6, 2025.

In a circular signed by the Registrar and released on Thursday, the university management had initially fixed October 6 as the official date for students’ return. However, sources within the institution confirmed that the date has been shifted following growing tension over the proposed increment in school fees.

Students’ bodies, including the Students’ Union Government (SUG), the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), and the National Association of University Students (NAUS), are reported to have opposed the increment, withdrawing their support for the management’s decision.
The postponement is seen by many as a move to douse tension and allow for further dialogue between the university authorities and stakeholders.

While no new date has been officially announced, FUOYE management assured students that further updates will be communicated in due course.
