Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Itesiwaju Local Government Area, under the banner of the Ajumose Itesiwaju Legacy Forum, has thrown its weight behind the senatorial ambition of Chief Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan, who formally declared her intention in Iseyin on Saturday to represent Oyo North in the Senate during the next general election.

In a congratulatory message signed by Chief Femi Durodola, the Agoro of Okaka Land, on behalf of the forum, the party leaders described Ogunesan’s declaration as “a historic and symbolic step” for Oke Ogun, a region noted for its loyalty in national politics but often subjected to historical marginalisation.
According to the statement, the forum expressed total confidence in Ogunesan’s leadership qualities, stressing that her election into the National Assembly would bring the long-desired dividends of democracy to Oke Ogun.

It noted that the former head of service, Ogunesan, is well-positioned to consolidate on the performance of the current serving senator, Dr. Fatai Buhari, through social and economic transformation for the people.
“The declaration of Chief Mrs. Ogunesan to contest the Senate seat gladdens our heart and it is a very welcome development. It is a good sign that women in Oke-Ogun have come of age and are ready to take their rightful place in political leadership of the area and the country in general,” the forum said.
Highlighting her credentials, the statement described Ogunesan as a seasoned technocrat and committed party loyalist who has served meritoriously as a top civil servant in Oyo State before retiring. It added that her years of political tutelage have been marked by loyalty, sacrifice, and sincerity, which the people of Oke Ogun now expect her to bring into legislative representation.

“We are solidly behind you, Ma, Chief Mrs. Ogunesan. Oke Ogun and in particular, Itesiwaju is solidly behind you. We salute your courage and for yielding to your inner call to duty to serve your people and Nigeria at large. We wish you resounding success at the party primaries and in the general election,” the statement concluded.
