UNILAG Lecturer, Ojogbo Accused of Sexually Assaulting 20-Year-Old Student

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has launched an investigation into allegations of sexual assault against a senior lecturer, Dr. Samuel Ojogbo, following a complaint lodged by a 20-year-old undergraduate.

According to police sources, the 300-level student reported on August 28, 2025, that the lecturer allegedly assaulted her in his office on August 22, around 12 noon. She claimed he forcibly violated her, after which she was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Confirming the development, UNILAG management disclosed that the matter had been officially reported to the police. The institution further revealed that its Safeguarding Centre is providing counselling and support to the student.

Speaking on behalf of the university, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, Head of the Communication Unit, said an investigative panel has been constituted to review the allegations, assuring that the findings will be made public upon conclusion.

“The University of Lagos remains committed to a safe and supportive environment for all students. A thorough investigation will be carried out, and justice will be ensured,” Alaga-Ibraheem stated.

She also urged students and staff to promptly report any cases of harassment or misconduct through the university’s established channels, reiterating UNILAG’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual harassment.
