“I Faced Bullying and Rejection Growing Up with Albinism” — Gov Umo Eno

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has opened up about his personal struggles with albinism, noting that the challenges he faced growing up shaped his compassion and resolve to support others living with the condition.

Disclosing this via his social media handle, Governor Eno recalled the difficulties he endured in his early years, including bullying, body shaming, and social rejection. He, however, expressed gratitude to God for enabling him to rise above those experiences to attain success in life and leadership.

“Growing up with albinism wasn’t easy; I faced bullying, body shaming, and rejection. But today, by God’s grace, I stand proudly,” the governor said.

Governor Eno explained that his personal story has become a motivation to celebrate and uplift others with the condition. “That’s why whenever I see anyone with this skin condition, I make it a point to honour and recognise them,” he added.

The governor assured that his administration would continue to prioritise inclusion and dignity for all residents of the state, stressing that physical differences should never be a barrier to opportunity or respect.
