Four UI Students Bag Presidential NYSC Award

Four graduates of the University of Ibadan (UI) have received the prestigious Presidential NYSC Award at the recently held combined 2020–2023 awards ceremony in Abuja.

The awardees, Phoebe Toluwanimi Osunbunmi (2020/21, Benue State corps member), Justice Oyewole Abioye (2020/21, Rivers State corps member), Gladys Ayokunmi Ayorinde (2023, Kwara State corps member), and Ebenezer Odunayo (2021/22, Abia State corps member, who was unavoidably absent), were honoured alongside over 200 corps members from across the country.

Presenting the awardees to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, FAS, mni, the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Prof. Sherifat Aboaba, described the recognition as a testament to the university’s culture of excellence.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor commended the students for being worthy ambassadors of the institution and for upholding UI’s guiding mantra of “For Learning and Sound Judgment.”

Prof. Adebowale was joined by the Dean of Students, Prof. Demola Lewis, and the SERVICOM Focal Person, Prof. Oluseyi Awe, in receiving the awardees.

The Presidential NYSC Award is the highest national honour given to corps members in recognition of outstanding performance, service, and contribution to community development during their service year.
