Nigerian singer and songwriter, Chike Osebuka, popularly known as Chike, has described marriage as “a stupid step,” adding that he has no immediate plans to settle down.
The 32-year-old artiste made the remark during an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, on the WithChudepodcast, where he discussed his personal views, career journey, and struggles before fame.

“In my personal opinion, in fact, I think it’s a stupid step to get married. That’s my opinion,” Chike said.
Despite being famous for his soulful love songs, the Boo of the Booless crooner explained that his happiness is tied more to financial stability than to romance.
“For me to be happy, to be honest, I need a lot of money. This is not even carnal. I won’t lie to you, I like money. I want money,” he noted.

The singer also reflected on how he embraced music as a career after his university education, admitting that he never imagined he would take it up professionally.
“I would say maybe right after my university, I knew music is what I’ll do for a living. I won’t say I knew before, to be honest, because I just used to sing and disturb everybody around me,” he recalled.
Chike further revealed that he endured financial struggles in the early days of his career and had to venture into acting for about two years in order to survive.

It will be recalled that in 2022, the singer disclosed that he had never said the words “I love you” in his life because the phrase made him feel vulnerable. “I get that feeling that if I say it, my bolz would shrink and disappear. I’m happy I get to sing it though,” he said at the time.
