How LAUTECH Student Was Shot Dead During Sign-Out Party

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of a Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, student, Babalola Marvelous Ishola, who was reportedly shot during a sign-out celebration.

According to the police, Babalola’s lifeless body was discovered by the roadside around 5:38 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The confirmation was shared by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, via an update on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Citing security sources, Zagazola revealed that authorities received a distress report about a male corpse lying unattended along a roadside. A security team was immediately dispatched to the scene, where the victim was identified through a search of his belongings.

The Dean of Student Affairs at LAUTECH also confirmed that the deceased was a bonafide student of the institution. His remains have since been deposited at the LAUTECH University Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation.

In response to the incident, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Monitoring Unit launched a sting operation that led to the arrest of 16 suspects believed to be connected to the shooting.

Police authorities have assured that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the exact circumstances surrounding the killing, as the university community and the wider public continue to mourn the loss of the young student.
