Fan Launches GoFundMe to Help Man United Sign Carlos Baleba Amid Transfer Buzz

In an unusually passionate gesture of fan loyalty, a Manchester United supporter, identified as Ian M. from England, has launched a GoFundMe campaign titled “Baleba to Man United fund”, aiming to raise funds for the club to sign Brighton’s rising star midfielder Carlos Baleba. The page went live on Wednesday night, showcasing an image of Baleba in his Brighton kit, but has yet to attract any donations.

Baleba, aged 21, has quickly become one of the Premier League’s most talked-about midfielders. Known for his defensive solidity and forward-driving prowess, he has drawn interest from several elite clubs. Manchester United is reportedly exploring his acquisition as part of a squad rebuild, with intermediaries said to have initiated contact with Brighton.

However, Brighton’s stance remains firm: CEO Paul Barber stated that “Manchester United have not been in touch with me,” characterizing widespread speculation as exactly that—speculation. He emphasised that Baleba is viewed as a key long-term asset for the club.

Reports suggest that Brighton would demand in excess of £100 million to consider a sale of Baleba, who is under contract until 2028 and has quickly become a standout performer for the Seagulls.

Notably, Manchester United fans have responded with exuberant displays of hope: one joked they’d name their future child “INEOS” if the deal goes through, a nod to club owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s firm.

While the GoFundMe campaign remains symbolic (and currently donation-free), it highlights just how intensely engaged fans are during this transformative transfer window. As Manchester United weigh their options, Baleba continues to be a coveted, and seemingly untouchable, target for top-flight clubs.
