How RCCG Pastor Absconded With $8,000, Abandoned Wife, Married Another in US — Pastor Adeboye’s Wife Reveals

Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has revealed how a pastor in the church absconded with $8,000 meant for missionary work, abandoned his wife in South Africa, and relocated to the United States to marry another woman.

She made the disclosure during a recent men’s programme in the church, where she recounted the incident as a warning against deceit and unfaithfulness within the clergy. According to her, the event occurred while she was on a missionary visit to Cape Town. During her sermon, she discovered that the RCCG parish was operating from a rented eatery and sought to help them secure a permanent worship space.

The parish pastor, who she described as being from Ekiti State, proposed a plan to buy a used vehicle and lease it to a tourism company, promising it would generate returns for the church’s building fund. Pastor Folu said she was impressed and released $8,000 to support the initiative.

“Unknown to me, the man had a different plan,” she said in a viral video monitored by Church Times. “As soon as he collected the money, he traveled to the U.S. and left his wife in South Africa.”

She added that the pastor not only abandoned his wife—who is now reportedly in a distressed mental state—but also married another woman in the United States.

Addressing the men present at the event, Pastor Folu posed a stern question: “Are we going to continue with such a lying and deceitful spirit in the kingdom?” to which the congregation responded, “No!”

She used the moment to call for a return to spiritual discipline and integrity, urging church members to return to the foundational values of obedience and sacrifice that once defined the RCCG’s mission.

“We may not know where God will take us,” she concluded, “but we have a bright future if we remain faithful.”
