The Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU) has launched a full-scale intervention into a disturbing incident involving a female student who was allegedly threatened with death by her landlord. The case, which recently went viral on social media, has sparked widespread outrage and concern across the university community.
In a swift response, LASUSU President Comrade Joldie Ayomide Adebobola led a delegation to the scene of the incident to engage directly with the victim and inspect her residence. As part of its investigation, the Union also visited the landlord’s pure water factory located within the vicinity.

The Union later proceeded to Igando Police Station, where the matter is being formally handled. There, LASUSU held a high-level meeting with the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Suleiman, who assured the Union of due diligence. He directed that a formal police invitation letter be issued and delivered to both the landlord’s home and business premises, in accordance with constitutional procedures.
Speaking on the matter, the Students’ Union clarified that it was not officially informed about the case until it went viral online. However, it reiterated its unflinching commitment to student welfare and justice.
“At the moment, the landlord is on the run,” LASUSU stated in an official release signed by its Public Relations Officer, Asikoto Olamide Mauyon, and President Adebobola. “The police have assured us of their full commitment to his arrest. We are closely monitoring this process and will ensure the matter is pursued to a logical and just conclusion.”
The Union issued a stern warning to landlords and caretakers across all LASU campuses, stating:
“This serves as a strong public warning to any landlord or caretaker who believes they can intimidate, harass, or unlawfully threaten students. Be reminded that LASUSU will resist you legally, constitutionally, and decisively.”
Over the years, LASUSU has mediated in numerous student housing conflicts, often stepping in to resolve disputes between landlords and tenants. The Union emphasized that no student under its watch would be left vulnerable to abuse or intimidation.
The Union urges any student facing threats or harassment to come forward, promising swift action and protection.
