The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State has been plunged into deep mourning following the tragic discovery of two of its students who were declared missing three weeks ago. Their lifeless bodies were found in a forested area along the Akoko-Ekiti border over the weekend.
The deceased students have been identified as Andrel Eloho Okah, a 200-level student of History and International Studies, and John Friday Abba, a 200-level Economics student. Both were undergraduates of the Ondo State-owned institution.
A security source, speaking under anonymity, confirmed the grim development to Western Post, revealing that the bodies were discovered in the bush by operatives following a tip-off. “It’s very unfortunate. The two missing AAUA students have been found dead. Their suspected abductors dumped their bodies in the bush, and some of our men have been deployed to recover the corpses,” the source said.

The discovery comes after weeks of tension, protests, and desperate pleas for help by the university community and residents of Akungba-Akoko. The mysterious disappearance of the two students had sparked outrage, with students calling for intensified security measures around the campus and its environs.
A student who spoke with reporters described the atmosphere on campus as sombre and emotionally overwhelming. “Yes, the news is true. Their bodies have been found in the bush. This is a very dark moment for all of us,” the student lamented.
As the news spreads across the state, many have expressed anger and sorrow over the recurring security challenges affecting students in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, acknowledged the incident and assured that an official statement would be issued soon. He noted that investigations are ongoing and appealed for calm among students and residents. “We are working tirelessly to unravel what happened. We urge everyone to stay vigilant and support the ongoing investigation,” Olayinka said.
