“I Hope He and My Dad Meet in Hell”—Kemi Olunloyo Reacts to Buhari’s Death

Controversial Nigerian journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, has sparked outrage online following her fiery reaction to the death of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari, who passed away on Sunday afternoon at a London clinic at the age of 82, was confirmed dead in a statement released by his former spokesperson, Garba Shehu.

Reacting to the news on her Facebook page, Olunloyo launched a scathing tirade, stating that she hopes Buhari and her late father, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, “meet for the first time at the gates of hell.”

“Finally, Buhari and my father meet for the first time at the gates of hell. Same year, 2025,” she wrote.

“My father never met Buhari despite being in the same political party, the APC, and ending my dad’s democracy in 1983. Buhari dying on Wole Soyinka’s birthday is a sign of freedom.”

The journalist went further to accuse the late former president of human rights violations during his military rule and called on his family to publicly admit his “real age.”

“I hope his family can now tell the world he was 89 and not 82, because he was 48 in 1983 — the same age as my dad — when he overthrew Shagari’s democracy,” she added.

“I hope Ayisha remarries and everyone he locked up is released. I hope the journalists he executed continue to rest in peace.”

Kemi’s post, which ends with “Sun re ooo Boo Harry,” has since gone viral and triggered mixed reactions across social media platforms, with many Nigerians criticizing her for what they describe as insensitivity, even in disagreement.

Known for her outspoken and controversial views, Olunloyo has a long history of feuds with political figures and celebrities. Her latest remarks, however, have reignited debates around Buhari’s legacy and the pain still felt by victims and critics of his military and civilian regimes.
