“We’ll Follow Adeleke Wherever He Goes” – Osun PDP Leaders

Amid growing speculation that Governor Ademola Adeleke may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), top stakeholders in the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have pledged to follow him wherever he chooses to go.

Following a high-level meeting held on Saturday at the Government House in Osogbo, the PDP leadership caucus passed a vote of confidence on the governor, affirming their unwavering support for any political decision he makes.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the caucus said it was united in standing behind Adeleke amid the swirling rumours of defection.

“Osun PDP leadership caucus today passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ademola Adeleke, unanimously supporting any decision the Governor takes on the growing rumour of defection to another political party,” the statement read.

The meeting brought together representatives from all arms of the party and government, including members of the National Assembly, State Assembly, the PDP State Executive Council, elders caucus, ALGON leadership, and other political appointees.

Among those in attendance were Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi; Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi; federal lawmakers Hon. Bamidele Salam, Hon. Clement Olohunwa, and Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro; PDP South-West Vice Chairman Engr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe; Osun PDP Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi; Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Secretary to the State Government Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff Hon. Kazeem Akinleye; and former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, among others.

The caucus praised Adeleke’s performance in office and mandated him to continue consulting widely with both local and national stakeholders before making any final decision.

While the governor is yet to make a formal declaration about leaving the PDP, speculation over his political future has sparked intense debate within both the APC and PDP in Osun State, with members on both sides jostling over who would emerge as party leader if he switches sides.

Governor Adeleke, elected under the PDP in 2022, has continued to wield influence across political divides, fueling speculation about his next move ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
