A Nigerian man identified as Rasheed has gone viral after opening up about how he was suspended from the university for six years after physically assaulting his Head of Department (HOD). The emotional story was shared in a video interview with TikTok and Instagram content creator, YomiListens.
Recounting what he described as the “biggest battle” of his life, Mr. Rasheed reflected on how a moment of youthful pride and peer pressure nearly derailed his entire future.
“I beat my HOD in school. Me and my crew, we were the ‘Top Gs’ in class, bad influence, to be honest. We felt we wanted to put him in his place. The man identified us, and I was suspended,” he said.
According to him, the incident could have led to outright expulsion, but after some interventions, the punishment was reduced to suspension, with the condition that he could return to school after the HOD had likely been transferred.

“I felt like my world had come crashing down. Family and everyone disowned me. I had to go back home and reset,” he recounted.
During his suspension, Rasheed turned to entrepreneurship, spending three years learning how to make and sell art frames, a venture that he says eventually fed him and gave his life direction.
“It was one of the best decisions I made. Business was booming. I didn’t even want to go back to school, but I had to,” he said.
After six years away, he returned to the university, although by then, all his peers had graduated. The weight of his past actions had begun to sink in.
“It was my fault. A normal human being should not do something like that. Why would you beat your HOD?” he asked rhetorically.
“Some of us were just crazy, trying to flex power or ego. But that experience humbled me. Now, when things happen, I think deeply about the consequences.”
