Apply Now: AAUW Fellowship 2026 Offers Up to $50,000 for Women Scholars

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is now accepting applications for the 2026 AAUW International Fellowship, a prestigious and long-standing opportunity offering up to $50,000 in funding for non-U.S. women pursuing full-time graduate, doctoral, or postdoctoral studies in the United States.

About the Fellowship

Established in 1917, the AAUW International Fellowship aims to support exceptional women from around the world in their academic journey, with the expectation that recipients will return to their home countries to drive positive change in business, academia, government, activism, science, and the arts.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

• Be citizens of countries other than the United States

• Hold an academic degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree by September 30, 2025

• Intend to return to their home country to pursue a professional career after study

• Demonstrate English proficiency

• Have applied (by September 30, 2025) to an accredited U.S. institution for the fellowship year

• Be pursuing graduate, doctoral, or postdoctoral programs (undergraduate and certificate programs are ineligible)

Special consideration is given to:

• Women from developing/emerging economies

• Applicants involved in community service, civic engagement, and advocacy for women and girls

Fellowship Rewards

Successful applicants will receive:

• $20,000 for Master’s/first professional degree

• $25,000 for Doctoral programs

• $50,000 for Postdoctoral research

Funds may cover:

• Tuition and educational expenses

• Living costs

• Childcare for dependents

• Travel to conferences (up to 10% of grant total)
