Apply Now: DBN Training Offers ₦1m Grant to Nigerian Entrepreneurs

The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) has launched the 7th cycle of its Entrepreneurship Training Program, inviting Nigerian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to apply for free business training and the chance to win a grant of ₦500,000 to ₦1 million.

This flagship initiative is aimed at empowering Nigerian entrepreneurs across all sectors by equipping them with practical business management skills and improving their ability to access funding.


About the Program

The DBN Entrepreneurship Training is part of the bank’s commitment to building capacity among MSMEs. Over 4,000 entrepreneurs have been trained digitally and physically since inception, leveraging the DBN BizAid Learning Management System (LMS) and strategic partnerships across Nigeria.

This year’s cycle combines free online learning, in-person practical sessions, and grant competitions for outstanding businesses.


Who Can Apply?

To be eligible:

  • Applicants must be 18 years or older

  • Must be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident

  • Must own a CAC-registered, for-profit business in Nigeria

  • Must commit to completing the training and participating in follow-up sessions


Training Benefits

All successful applicants will receive:

  • Free access to 4 essential business courses on the BizAid platform:

    1. Accounting & Bookkeeping

    2. Sustainability for MSMEs

    3. Marketing & Sales Techniques

    4. Credit Management & Access to Finance

  • Mandatory completion of these courses with at least 70% average score

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to physical training sessions in Abuja, Lagos, or Port Harcourt for advanced learning, peer interaction, and tailored support

  • All participants will have the opportunity to pitch their business ideas, and the best businesses will be awarded grants between ₦500,000 and ₦1 million


Selection Criteria

Grant winners will be selected based on:

  • Bankability – Readiness and structure to access credit

  • Feasibility & sustainability of the business idea

  • Scalability – Demonstrated potential for growth and job creation
