“Christians Shouldn’t Practice BDSM in Marriage” — Woli Arole Declares

Nigerian comedian-turned-cleric, Woli Arole, has stirred fresh conversation online with his stance on the compatibility of BDSM with Christian values in marriage.

In a recent Instagram post, the preacher revealed he had been asked whether it was appropriate for Christians to engage in BDSM within marriage, a term referring to a range of sexual practices including bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, and sadomasochism. Arole’s response was clear: No.

“I was asked, ‘Can a Christian do BDSM in marriage?’ My own answer is NO,” he wrote.

Woli Arole, known for his humorous yet faith-centered content, has in recent months become more vocal on moral and spiritual issues affecting the Christian community. Earlier this year, he criticized what he described as the growing influence of materialism in churches, warning that “mammon” ,  symbolic of the love of money — had found its way into the pulpit.

“Christ didn’t come to die so we could become rich, but so we could have eternal life,” he said in a previous sermon.

He also addressed Christian critics of the reality TV show Big Brother Naija, urging them to stop labeling it as ungodly and instead invest in Christian-themed media. According to him, there are enough wealthy Christians who can support faith-based content without tearing others down.

In another post, Arole called out judgmental attitudes among believers, reminding them that they have no divine authority to determine who is good or bad.

To start the year, the popular preacher released a controversial prophecy, warning that 2025 would be difficult for women involved with sugar daddies and for men who neglect their wives in favor of younger girls. He urged all to repent and live upright lives.

Arole’s bold statements continue to provoke debate among his growing online following, particularly on topics that blur the lines between faith, culture, and personal lifestyle choices.
