Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially renamed The Polytechnic Ibadan in honour of the late former governor of the state, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.
The announcement was made on Thursday during a brief remark by the governor at the interdenominational commendation service held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, in memory of the late statesman.
Governor Makinde said the institution will henceforth be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, in recognition of the former governor’s lasting contributions to education in the state.
Dr. Olunloyo, who passed away recently, was the pioneer rector of the institution before becoming governor. His legacy as an academic, administrator, and public servant was widely praised at the tribute service.
The renaming, Governor Makinde said, is a symbolic gesture to ensure that Olunloyo’s name remains deeply etched in the history of education and governance in Oyo State.
