The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced the Third Edition of its Short Film Contest in Nigeria, inviting young Nigerian filmmakers to submit compelling short films that address the realities and dangers of human trafficking.
Held in commemoration of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (July 30), this year’s contest centers around the theme:
“Human Trafficking is Organized Crime – End the Exploitation.”
The initiative seeks to mobilize the creativity of Nigerian youth in spotlighting the complex dynamics of human trafficking and promoting a victim-centred, justice-driven approach to tackling the crime.
Eligibility:

Open to young Nigerian filmmakers under 35 years old

Applicants must have a strong interest in human rights, migration, media, or social justice

The filmmaker must be actively involved in the production (as director, writer, editor, etc.)

While cast members can be of any age, the film must reflect the filmmaker’s perspective on trafficking
Prizes:

1st Prize: $2,500
-
2nd Prize: $1,500
-
3rd Prize: $1,000
Submission Requirements:

Entries can be of any genre (documentary, drama, animation, music video, etc.)

Must creatively address the theme of human trafficking in Nigeria

Format: Submit via YouTube link through the official IOM application form

Preferred video formats: MOV or MP4 (HD: 1920×1080 recommended, but not mandatory)

Incomplete entries or inaccessible video links will be disqualified
