Interested students are advised to submit their applications through the Office of the Dean of their respective faculties. The deadline for all submissions is Friday, July 25, 2025.
In related news, the Postgraduate College of the University of Ibadan has also begun its annual admission process for prospective postgraduate students seeking admission into higher degree programmes. These include Master’s, M.Phil, and Ph.D. degrees across various faculties.
Applicants must hold a first degree from the University of Ibadan or any other Senate-recognised university or institution. Admission is based on faculty recommendations, with decisions considering academic merit, research potential, and readiness for advanced study.
Candidates without previous postgraduate qualifications may only apply for a Master’s or Professional Master’s degree, while those with a recognised research degree can be considered for M.Phil or Ph.D. programmes. In some cases, applicants may be provisionally admitted into an M.Phil/Ph.D. track pending departmental assessment by the end of the first semester.
Admission categories include:
-
Full-Time: Open only to applicants who are not in employment or who have secured formal release for full-time study. False declarations result in immediate withdrawal.
-
Part-Time: Available to UI staff or applicants who can demonstrate access to adequate study facilities.
-
Occasional Students: Open to qualified individuals not seeking a degree, or those enrolled in equivalent programmes at Senate-recognised institutions.
Application forms can be accessed via the official portal: https://pgcollege.ui.edu.ng/admissions/guide/ with N20,000 payable for academic programmes and N25,000 for professional programmes. An additional N5,000 is required for English Language proficiency testing for Master’s and PGD applicants.
Applicants must submit all credentials and required documents online, including three e-referee reports. Official academic transcripts should be sent directly from the applicant’s previous institution to the Postgraduate College.
Foreign applicants must possess qualifications equivalent to at least a Second Class Upper Division and demonstrate strong proficiency in English. All applications are competitively assessed based on merit, prior academic performance, and field relevance.
The University of Ibadan affirms its non-discriminatory policy, welcoming qualified applicants regardless of race, gender, nationality, or disability, and continues to uphold its reputation for academic excellence and inclusive access to higher education.
