The Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has voluntarily reported to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja amid an ongoing investigation into a viral video showing him allegedly holding a firearm.
Lagos Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development on Tuesday afternoon, stating that Pastor Adefarasin was currently undergoing interrogation by detectives.
The video, which surfaced online last week, appeared to show the cleric holding a metallic, gun-like object during an encounter with a man recording him from another vehicle. The footage quickly sparked public concern and debate on social media.
In an earlier reaction, Pastor Adefarasin denied claims that he was brandishing a firearm. “You might be aware of a video circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” he stated. “I want to assure you that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”
Confirming the pastor’s visit to the police, Hundeyin emphasized that the law applies to everyone equally. “No one is above the law,” he wrote in a WhatsApp message to reporters. “Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in… and is currently being interrogated by detectives.”
He added that a formal investigation had been launched following the emergence of the video and that the outcome would be made public once concluded.
The incident has continued to generate public interest, particularly concerning the legality of holding such an object in a moving, unregistered vehicle and whether any threats were made during the encounter.
