UI SU at 100 Days: Covenant Odedele Reaffirms Commitment to Student Welfare, Reform

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union on Saturday marked the 100th day in office of its current executive team, led by Covenant Odedele and popularly dubbed The Auspicious Team. The milestone was commemorated with a reflective message and a bold reaffirmation of the union’s commitment to transformative, student-focused leadership.

Titled “100 Auspicious Days. 100 Shades of Excellence,” the statement released by the Public Relations Officer, Adekanmbi Ezekiel (Eazy-DBigPROpeller), celebrated a centenary of active governance since the team assumed office on March 7, 2025.

“Visionary leadership isn’t just about leading people into places they know, but places they never could have imagined,” the message read, capturing the tone of the union’s ambitions.
In their first 100 days, the Students’ Union highlighted its record of amplifying student voices, advocating for welfare, initiating community-benefitting projects, and fostering stronger ties with university stakeholders.

“We remain committed to your welfare, and with your continued support, we can do so much more,” the statement assured.

Union President Covenant Odedele, in his address, expressed gratitude to God, the university management, faculty and hall executives, student-led bodies, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), volunteers, and supporters for enabling the administration’s progress so far.

“Rome was not built in a day, but it was built daily. We have barely scratched the surface of what we envision to achieve, but we trust that the days ahead will offer us greater opportunities to fulfil all our promises,” he stated.

With a focus on purposeful governance, student welfare, and showcasing “premier excellence,” the Auspicious Team said it is poised to continue pushing the boundaries of what student representation can achieve.

The 100-day review ends on a note of optimism — a signal that for UITES, the journey to a more responsive and impactful union has only just begun.
