Nollywood actress Rosy Meurer has publicly denied widespread rumours alleging that her husband, businessman Olakunle Churchill, physically abuses her.
In a strongly worded Instagram post on Wednesday, Meurer described the allegations as “fabricated, malicious and a reflection of toxic projections by idle minds.” She said the claims were attempts to distort her private life and vowed not to remain silent in the face of such falsehoods.
“If you don’t tell your side of the story, they will tell it for you in ways that suit them for the world to believe,” Meurer wrote. “Debunking has never been my thing… but because I have a family and children, I choose to speak up for myself. NO ONE is allowed to tell my story.”
Addressing the domestic violence claims directly, Meurer insisted that her husband is “not a woman beater,” and called out critics who, according to her, wished abuse upon her marriage out of the pain in their own lives.
“It’s funny when haters wish beating in my marriage when it’s obvious their mothers, daughters, and sisters are the ones suffering from massive beatings. My husband is not that man. Allegations are not by force,” she stated.
She added that the resurfacing of past controversies was simply an attempt to revive false narratives for media attention.
“I guess the media is never hot for so long, which is why they cook up gist to keep the space busy. Can’t blame them.”
Her husband, Olakunle Churchill, also reacted to the rumours in a more lighthearted tone via his social media handle, confirming the family was currently on vacation abroad.
“I hear say I dey trend. Who cook am? My family dey Disney Paris dey enjoy summer life. Una go wait until menopause come,” Churchill wrote jokingly. “My wife no get staff or friends. Una don make we trend today. Thanks.”
The couple’s response comes amid growing social media chatter that rekindled scrutiny of their relationship—an issue that has trailed them since their union became public.
Despite the renewed controversy, both Meurer and Churchill appear united in dismissing the claims and maintaining their public front as a happy family.
