The University of Ilorin Independent Students’ Electoral Commission (UISEC) has officially lifted the ban on campaign activities for the 2024/2025 Students’ Union elections. The announcement, made in a press release on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, marks the commencement of the electioneering season across campus, allowing all aspirants to begin their campaigns in line with electoral and university regulations.
According to UISEC, all campaign activities must be carried out peacefully and orderly, strictly adhering to established guidelines. The Commission emphasized that compliance with university rules is mandatory, as it seeks to ensure a smooth, fair, and credible election process.
Alongside the campaign greenlight, UISEC also announced the commencement of the sale of nomination forms for various Students’ Union positions. Interested aspirants are to obtain their forms after making payment at the Unilorin Microfinance Bank. The account details provided are: Account Name – Students’ Union, Account Number – 1100013577, and Bank – Unilorin Microfinance Bank.

The nomination fees for available positions are as follows:

President – ₦12,000
-
Vice Presidents – ₦10,000
-
General Secretary – ₦9,000
-
Other Central Executive Council (CEC) Positions – ₦8,000

Senate Council Positions – ₦8,000
-
Hall Representatives – ₦8,000
All aspirants are required to present the original copy of their payment teller to collect their application forms.

UISEC, led by its Chairperson, Dina Peace Olajumoke, and Secretary, Egbebi Jubril, reiterated its commitment to a transparent and inclusive electoral process. The Public Relations Officer, Okunlola Olawale Taoheed, also assured students that necessary measures are in place to maintain decorum and fairness throughout the election period.
With the ban lifted and forms now on sale, the stage is set for what is expected to be a keenly contested Students’ Union election season under the #UnilorinDecides25 banner.
