President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he has forgiven Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State following a personal appeal by members of the influential Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
The reconciliation took place during a meeting at the Presidential Villa on Sunday, where the GAC delegation visited Tinubu to intercede on behalf of the governor and others who may have fallen out of favour with the president.
According to ThisDay, the GAC Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, openly acknowledged that Tinubu had been displeased with certain political figures in Lagos, particularly Governor Sanwo-Olu. He then pleaded with the president for forgiveness, both on behalf of Sanwo-Olu and others who might have unknowingly offended him.
In a moment described as emotional and symbolic, President Tinubu responded, “It’s all over now. All is forgiven,” assuring the gathering that he no longer held any grudge against anyone present.
The gesture was followed by a dramatic show of humility as Sanwo-Olu and other GAC members prostrated before Tinubu in a traditional act of remorse and reconciliation.
