Popular Nigerian singer Darey Art Alade and his wife, Deola, narrowly escaped a tragic incident on Friday after their car caught fire while driving on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The couple, visibly shaken but safe, took to social media on Saturday to share videos of the car engulfed in flames. The footage showed passersby attempting to douse the blaze before fire service officials arrived to bring the situation under control.

In a heartfelt joint statement, Darey and Deola recounted the harrowing experience:
“Yesterday, around 4pm, our car caught fire on the 3rd Mainland Bridge and burnt to the ground. It was a shocking and painful experience, but we’re incredibly grateful that the driver made it out safely. No lives were lost, and that’s what truly matters.”

The incident, while traumatic, served as a powerful reminder for the couple about the value of life over material possessions.

“We’re not sharing this for sympathy,” they wrote, “but to remind someone that things can be replaced. Lives cannot. We’re choosing to remain thankful to God for protection, for perspective, and for the quiet strength to keep going.”

Their message also reached out to others going through sudden loss:
