The Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, has congratulated staff and students of the institution on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to uphold the values of faith, obedience, and moderation during the festive period.
In a goodwill message personally signed and released on Friday, Dr Lasisi described the Ileya festival as a deeply significant observance in the Islamic faith, symbolising total submission to the will of Allah. He reminded Muslim faithful, especially students, not to lose sight of the spiritual essence of the celebration.
“Eid-el-Kabir reinforces our belief in Allah’s mercy and the importance of absolute obedience to Him,” he said. “I urge all students to celebrate responsibly and avoid anything contrary to the teachings of Islam. Youthful excitement should not override our devotion to Allah.”
The Ibadan Poly Rector also expressed his appreciation to the entire campus community for their continued cooperation and support since the current management team assumed office. He described the collective effort as crucial to the progress recorded so far.
Dr Lasisi went on to commend Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his steadfast commitment to the development of the institution. He noted that under the governor’s leadership, staff salaries are paid promptly, on the 25th of every month, and essential funds have been released for the procurement of equipment and accreditation of academic programmes.
“Governor Makinde has remained a pillar of support, both financially and morally. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve under his progressive administration,” he added.
