Ibadan Poly Shines at OAU’s AIPASS 6.0 Summit on Governance and Innovation

The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI) made a resounding impression at the 6th edition of the Annual Interactive Public Administration Students’ Summit (AIPASS 6.0), held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. Themed “The Rise of Administration: Innovation at the Heart of Governance,” the summit served as a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange between public administration students from both institutions.

Representing The Polytechnic, Ibadan were three exceptional students: Aluko Adedeji David, who spoke first; Olabosinde Israel Oluwapelumi, the second speaker; and Shaibu Samuel Emmaikwu, who delivered the final presentation. The trio captivated the audience and impressed the panel of judges with their articulate arguments and insightful engagement with the theme. Their performance was described as “brilliant and legacy-worthy” by Professor Bola Shiyanbade, a respected Public Administration lecturer at OAU.

Professor Shiyanbade, in his remarks, fondly recalled the outstanding participation of Akinade Ridwan Bunyamin, popularly known as “Constitution”, who had represented TPI in earlier editions of the summit. He praised the 2026 team for upholding that tradition of excellence, noting that they had not only followed in Bunyamin’s footsteps but also carved a new legacy of their own.

The success of the team was made possible through the guidance and mentorship of the department’s leadership. Comrade Adekanbi Oluwapelumi, President of the Public Administration Department; Comrade Oguntola Festus O., Chairman of the Public Administration Stakeholders; and Comrade Akinade Ridwan Bunyamin, the current SUG PRO I and former AIPASS representative, all played crucial roles in grooming and preparing the students.

Also providing vital academic and moral support was Mrs. Oke Olabode O., a dedicated lecturer who accompanied the TPI delegation to the summit.

Beyond the competitive edge, AIPASS 6.0 underscored the importance of collaboration, policy discourse, and innovation in governance studies. The Polytechnic, Ibadan’s performance not only stood out but also reinforced its growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence in public administration.
