A building under construction for the popular food chain, Item7, collapsed on Sunday evening along the bustling Mokola–Dugbe axis in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident, which was captured in videos now circulating on social media, has sparked a wave of online reactions, with many Nigerians questioning the structural integrity of the edifice.

Eyewitnesses told pressmen that the building — still in its skeletal phase — gave way suddenly, spilling debris across one lane of the heavily trafficked road, causing partial obstruction and panic in the area. Emergency response teams arrived at the scene with equipment to clear the rubble and restore normal traffic flow.
Some social media users expressed sympathy for the owners of the fast-growing food brand, while others voiced concerns about the ambitious height and design of the building.
As of press time, no injuries or casualties have been reported, though authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the collapse.
