How Police Escort Shot and Killed My Sister — Gov Kefas

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has made a shocking revelation about the true circumstances behind the tragic death of his younger sister, Atsi Kefas, who was previously believed to have been killed in a bandit attack.

Speaking during a press briefing in Jalingo, the state capital, Governor Kefas clarified that investigations have now confirmed that his sister was actually shot and killed by a police escort attached to his mother, not by bandits along the Wukari-Chinkai Road as earlier assumed.

“My sister, Atsi, was fatally shot at close range by a police officer who was in the same vehicle with her and our mother on their way from Jalingo to Abuja,” Kefas said.

The governor added that during surgery to save her life, pellets from the officer’s firearm were found lodged in her body, confirming the cause of the fatal injury.

“Life is very precious to me. You can’t just end someone’s life and think God will be happy with you,” he said, calling for justice and emphasizing that the officer responsible is currently under investigation.

This revelation contradicts the initial public narrative that the incident was a result of a kidnapping attempt by armed bandits, a common occurrence on the Wukari-Chinkai axis.

During the briefing, Governor Kefas also addressed the recent killings in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area, where over 50 people reportedly lost their lives in a violent attack. He observed a minute of silence in honour of both his sister and the victims of the Karim-Lamido tragedy.

Decrying the wave of violence affecting various parts of Taraba, the governor urged residents to embrace peace and unity. He further announced plans to establish a commission of inquiry to investigate the root causes of the Karim-Lamido crisis and propose actionable recommendations for lasting peace.

As of the time of reporting, the Taraba State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement responding to the governor’s account.
