Unity Cup Thriller: Super Eagles Edge Ghana 2–1, Set to Battle Jamaica in Final

In a thrilling semi-final clash at the Gtech Community Stadium in London on Wednesday night, Nigeria’s Super Eagles edged out their long-time rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana, with a 2–1 victory to secure a spot in the final of the Unity Cup.

The match kicked off with high intensity, and it didn’t take long for Nigeria to draw first blood. In the 14th minute, forward Cyriel Dessers fired the Super Eagles ahead with a calm and clinical finish, following a precise assist from S. Ismail.

Nigeria doubled their lead just five minutes later in an unexpected twist, when Ghanaian defender Razak Simpson inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net while attempting a clearance—handing the Super Eagles a 2–0 cushion.

Despite trailing, Ghana rallied and found a lifeline in the 70th minute through striker Thomas-Asante, who tucked away a sharp effort to keep the contest alive.

However, Nigeria held firm in the closing minutes, maintaining their lead and securing a crucial win that sends them into the final of the international tournament.

The Super Eagles will now face Jamaica, who triumphed in their own semi-final tie, in what promises to be a high-stakes showdown for the Unity Cup title.
