FIFA has introduced two special transfer windows to accommodate teams participating in the upcoming expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13.
In a statement released on Wednesday, football’s global governing body confirmed that a unique pre-tournament registration period will be open from June 1 to 10, allowing participating clubs to register newly signed players ahead of the competition.
“All 20 Member Associations whose clubs will participate in FIFA’s groundbreaking competition have confirmed the opening of an exceptional registration window from June 1 to 10 for all their affiliated clubs to allow new players signed to compete in the tournament,” FIFA stated.
To further support player movement during the competition, an additional in-competition transfer window will run from June 27 to July 3, FIFA announced.
“The objective is to encourage clubs and players whose contracts are expiring to find an appropriate solution to facilitate the players’ participation,” the statement added. “This will ensure that the best players will be playing, allowing clubs to add new recruits even during the tournament.”
The 2025 edition of the Club World Cup marks a significant expansion of the tournament, featuring 32 clubs from across the globe. It is expected to be the most commercially and competitively ambitious version of the competition to date.
