Veteran Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has spoken publicly about his fallout with fellow Fuji icon, General Kollington Ayinla, expressing deep disappointment over what he described as betrayal and ingratitude.
In a recent interview with Agbaletu TV, K1 revealed that his anger stems from Kollington’s failure to visit or even offer condolences when he lost his mother, despite the overwhelming support K1 had shown when Kollington experienced the same loss.
“I am so angry with Alhaji Kollington because he never showed up to offer his condolences when I lost my mum,” K1 said. “When his own mother passed away, I supported him to give her a befitting burial. I brought a lot of dignitaries to the burial for him, and I handled all the finances 100%. See how he paid me back.”
The music legend further explained that Kollington had no valid excuse for his absence, noting that he was present in Nigeria and in good health at the time.
“He is in Nigeria, hale and hearty, and the only excuse he gave was that he called me, and I didn’t pick. Am I not supposed to be angry?” K1 asked.
This is not the first time K1 has found himself at the center of controversy. Last year, his former drummer, Kunle Ayanlowo, accused him of maltreatment and made startling personal allegations. In response, K1 released a diss track, denying the claims and dismissing Kunle’s credibility.
Despite the storm surrounding his relationships with former allies, K1 continues to maintain his place at the top of Nigeria’s Fuji music scene. However, his latest revelation adds another layer to the complex dynamics among Nigeria’s Fuji greats.
