Renowned Nigerian gospel artiste and ordained pastor, Bolaji Adedotun Olanrewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji or Big B, has passed away at the age of 50.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his family in an official statement released on Saturday, April 19, 2025. According to the statement, Big Bolaji died on Easter Saturday after a brief illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B’… a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in the church and music community. Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2025, after a brief illness,” the family’s statement read.
A familiar face in gospel music circles and a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Big Bolaji was celebrated for his dynamic stage presence, uplifting music, and deep-rooted faith. His work touched countless lives, blending ministry with melody to inspire joy and devotion.
The family expressed their sorrow over the loss, describing his death as a painful void that can never truly be filled. “His life was a testament to his passion for music, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to uplifting those around him,” the statement added. “We take solace in knowing that his absence with us is his presence with the Lord.”
The family also requested privacy as they mourn, thanking the public for the overwhelming support and prayers received so far. Funeral arrangements, they said, will be announced in due course.
